(this week's Flaming Hot Blog It topic - a new blog challenge page I've joined)
My studio is the space where I create...and that means it's mobile. Technically yes, I have a creativity pit which I sometimes call the studio, but in all reality, my studio is the space surrounding whatever I am currently creating. If that is a textile item then the studio is in the sewing felting room. If I'm torching, fusing, soldering, drilling, well I'm in the "official" studio workspace area. If the project is portable I might be watching a movie while working on the couch, and if what I seek is some inner peace I may be in the exercise room creating a little yoga zone....
I think for many creative folks, we define a zone for creation, a place where it feels safe to be messy, inspired and a bit free with our thoughts of color and flow. Many artisans find they have a messy workspace and are happiest in chaos. Others want a sanctuary of tidy order to find their inner muse. For me, I carry that space around with me mentally on most days. This means I can get in the creation zone at almost any time. Then again, I live a life that is conducive to this freedom and allows me to spread out with projects or tidy areas up as needed. All of this means that, very happily for me, my studio is a state of mind....
